Visited with the host for half an hour. I concluded that she's a talented artist and has much to offer. So I'm rating HER not your organization. I had cancelled the class because of the opaque nature of your organization. But I wanted more information so I went to the site. Emily was there, but throughout our long chat, no one else showed up This is obviously not a "Spokane group". Possibly HQ in Australia.

I learned a lot about shading and I was challenged by drawing upside down. I went out and bought some different pencils and blenders and will definitely keep drawing.

ARTISTS
Emily Ashby Blose
Emily here with Spokane Art Group!
I am a local artist that originated in Virginia, grew my skills in Colorado and began doing art booths in California. After moving to Spokane, I realized the community has so many creative folks within it and I am endeared at the idea of sharing experiences with people who love art as much as I do!

In short, I began drawing as a kid, became the doodler in corporate meetings and, feeling unfulfilled, 8 years ago found myself picking up a paint brush again. As living proof that it's never too late to follow your dream, I now work at a studio in Post Falls, ID. Outside of acrylic and oil painting, I enjoy creating art with other mediums such as watercolor painting, pan pastel, charcoal and graphite drawing. In my classes I want to encourage participants to understand the concepts of art in that it is not magic or some innate talent, but rather is a skill we all can grow to perfect via our own, personal expression. Art doesn't recognize right or wrong and I believe that proper fundamentals can give your creativity wings.

Title or Location: Elegant Barn Owl
I am new to the art world. I started pastel pencils/pan pastels about 3 years ago, as I had found a pet and wildlife artist who lives in Manchester, England. So that is where I watch her tutorials. I have done over 40 pieces in that time. Intersting fact: I never took lessons and basically only drew "stick people"...LOL! I recently found my biological family in Canada, and discovered 2 cousins and my uncle are all artist. My uncle actually has an art book of his commissions, my one cousin does

8x10 stretched canvas- For this painting I really wanted to focus on the landscape. I imagine this being in a world where residents know to leave dragons alone and respect them. This also was my first time using slow dry and satin glazing mediums in the acrylic paints. Definitely try them out if you haven't yet.

My art "Authenticity"This piece represents my journey of transformation ? a journey of becoming the truest and most authentic version of myself. It is about releasing limiting beliefs, breaking free from old patterns, and leaving behind the masks I once wore to fit expectations and seek acceptance. The act of removing the mask symbolizes letting go of the false identities that no longer serve me and embracing who I truly am.At its heart, this artwork carries a powerful message: be aut

Title or Location: My Favourite Toy
This is Marley, one of my loopy border collies. I managed to take the reference photo for this drawing in one of his quiet moments, while he was hugging his favourite toy and stopping his brother Bob from stealing it! It was a challenge drawing him on pastelmat as I'm not too experienced with it but quiete happy with how he came out! He's drawn in a mix of faber castel polychromos, caran d'ache luminance and some derwent drawing pencils.

Title or Location: Balnagask golf course
I loved this photograph from John Strachan photography and finally got around to painting it in acrylic. I tried to be quite loose with the painting as there was so much detail. in the end I thought the sky looked a bit bare so with the help of Chat GPT I added seagulls to the photo and was then able to paint them into my art work. This painting will be heading for the Aberdeen art show the end of August for sale.
